A NIGHT AT THE SEATTLE GLASSBLOWING STUDIO

Cliff Goodman, owner and contributing artist of the Seattle Glass Blowing Studio on 5th Ave., knows how to throw a party. Sometimes the occasion is to celebrate a political sea change (i.e. the Democrats regaining both the House and the Senate), and other times it’s to advocate for a local issue (i.e. the proposed monorail project); however, on this particular night, Cliff opened up his studio for a purely social event. Entertainment included live glassblowing, interpretive dance, and two members of Equilateral, an experimental string group (a hybrid between Kronos quartet and Pat Metheny).

LIVE GIRLS! (EXPERIMENTAL THEATER IN BALLARD)

My friend Kevin Hyatt invited me to photograph his performance at Live Girls! in Ballard (he’s the one with the plate on his head). Here’s a blurb about the theater from their website:

Live Girls! is a theater dedicated to producing and developing new works by women. Located in the heart of Ballard in the lower level of the historic Kress Building, their goal is to empower women artists to be leaders and create their own opportunities and provide the public with opportunities to see plays by women. Their company members commit to a year of supporting the Live Girls! mission by volunteering in various aspects of administration and production.
